a package!

A few days ago, I received this beautiful package in the mail from Mrs. Betty– my best friend‘s mom. Since a bus ride to an acting tournament, Tori & I have become incredibly close; sometimes I feel like she knows me better than I know myself. In our friendship, we are able to share every part of ourselves. Living in different states now, we’re still able to connect over wires, screens, paper & pen. I love her & I cherish her friendship. I am thankful to have a friendship so full of love & beauty & honesty.
With Tori’s friendship, comes my amazing relationship with her parents: Mr. John & Mrs. Betty. I really miss spending the night at their house & goofing around in their kitchen at night. I really admire their relationship with one another & the relationship that they have with their two daughters.

I love you, Houston family!

winter time.

Traveling around Europe after graduating high school, my mom purchased a film camera that she has now passed down to me. After moving to Kansas City this summer, my parents found a tiny camera shop where they bought me a beautiful lens for the camera. Starting my New Year’s resolution early, I’ve made an effort to make a few photos around my house. I hope to use my camera more & more.

It is really inspiring to read A Year of Mornings (given to me by my mom for Christmas) because of the simplicity captured in these photographs during my favorite time of day. I recommend this book to anyone!

My parents stayed the night last night & it was a very enjoyable time. I made taco soup from Simply In Season (also a gift from my mom) for dinner & whole wheat pancakes this morning. My mom & I were able to spend some time together; she taught me how to use my new sewing machine. I’m so excited to make beautiful things for friends & family & myself, of course.
