The Freckled Hen Collection by 1canoe2

Oh, friends. Where do we even begin?
This little catalogue I hold has been a dream of ours for so, so long. To see it all come to life makes my heart absolutely sing!

A year ago, Luke & I sat down with the 1canoe2 team to share our ideas. We wanted to create a wholesale line of thoughtfully-made goods that were accessible, beautiful & useful. We wanted to create a line of seeds that could be grown by a beginning gardener & trusted by our fellow small farmers.
We wanted to bring together my love for beautiful things & Luke’s knowledge of gardening to create products that really inspired & equipped folks to dig in the dirt, lead a simpler life, grow their own food & slow down just a little more.
1canoe2 believed in our big dreams & partnered with us to create an entire line of goods that do just that! And they’re far more beautiful than I could have ever imagined!
We are so proud of this collection. Every variety of seed is grown by us on the farm each year. Our meal planners include features that I love & use daily. Our planting calendars are sure to make garden upkeep that much easier. There are so many more surprises that I cannot wait to share with you!

The Freckled Hen Collection by 1canoe2 will be available to wholesale customers right after the New Year &  to retail customers on January 3rd at 1canoe2.com. I will be visiting shops & shows around the country this year to share this collection & our passion for simpler living. Stay tuned for more details & product sneak peeks to come in the next days & weeks.
Until then, thank you so much for following along. It is such a gift to share our lives, our farm & our business with you!
love,
natalie

Freckled Hen Farmhouse is GROWING! March 2018

Friends, I am so excited to finally share the big Freckled Hen Farmhouse news!
Freckled Hen Farmhouse is growing! We are moving to a bigger, better building in March! Triple the space, double the product offerings, endless opportunities to serve our amazing patrons!

This was such a tough decision to make, friends. Our current space has become our home away from home. We’ve made such amazing memories, connected with so many customers, held workshops & cultivated a rich community in our cozy space.
Our original building holds such a special place in our hearts, but with the news of our block being sold & rebuilt, we no longer had the option to stay put where we are.
And with this news was the reminder that this building was also just a stepping stone. Luke & I have learned along the way that it’s so important for the health of our business to continually take small steps toward our big, brave dreams. When we first opened our brick & mortar building last January, we had no idea if people would even show up! Month after month, folks have supported Freckled Hen Farmhouse beyond what we could have ever dreamed. We’re so thankful for the continued support in Fayetteville & online.

We want to create a business that outlasts trends & fleeting styles. We’re working to create a cornerstone in our community, a place where folks from all over the world feel welcomed & inspired to cultivate an intentional home. A unique shop – both online & in-person – that offers practical yet beautiful gifts you are excited to share with your dearest friends & family for fifty, sixty, seventy years to come.
We believe this building right here is part of that wild & crazy, rich & meaningful, community-inspired story.

So, come on in & see what we’ve been up to. Watch your step, it’s still a work in progress. But we cannot wait for you to see what it becomes!
The store front is double in space compared to our current location. Lots of windows to brighten the space, making it extra warm & welcoming. Our ceilings are vaulted like a barn, which makes us feel right at home. The open floor plan will allow us to move things around so customers see something new every time they come through our doors.
We’ve been collecting old general store fixtures, wallpaper & more to bring character & charm to this bright & beautiful space. Imagine gingham, copper, chippy pant, florals & more.
The best part – more shop offerings! In the upcoming months, we’ll be introducing even more goodies, workshops, classes & community events! Freckled Chicks, a hand-curated line of old-fashioned children’s toys, puzzles & more will be joining the farmhouse. In addition, we cannot wait to share our expanded Freckled Hen library with you along with freshly-brewed Freckled Hen coffee roasted right here in Fayetteville, Arkansas!

Luke & I, along with our incredible Freckled Hen team, want to thank you from the bottoms of our hearts for the support, love & encouragement both online & at the general store!
Make sure to mark your calendars & join us for our Grand Re-Opening and 2nd Birthday Party on March 9th & 10th at 840 N. College Avenue in Fayetteville, Arkansas! There will be sips, sweets, laughter, squeals, hugs, happy tears & more! We cannot wait to celebrate with you.

My Top Five Favorite Podcasts

With the arrival of August comes the desire to make little habit changes that are sure to positively affect the coming season.
One habit that I’ve made room for in my daily rhythm is listening to podcasts. I usually listen while I clean the house, run errands & complete repetitive tasks for work. It’s an enjoyable way for me to pass the time while staying productive. I also love the conversations that come about with Luke (a podcast junkie!) & friends simply from what I’ve heard.

Today I thought I’d share just a handful of podcasts I thoroughly enjoy. I’d also love to read your favorites, too, as I am hoping to add a few more to my weekly rotation! Enjoy!
– How I Built This: I love entrepreneurial podcasts that inspire me to do my work better. I am so motivated by the stories on this podcast of amazing entrepreneurs who built successful businesses all the while taking big risks & often times failing along the way.
– Elise Gets Crafty: Another entrepreneurial podcast but all about small business. I have actually been interviewed by Elise twice (here & here) so I may be a little biased (ha!), but I love the work that Elise is doing to shed light on the gifts & hardships of being a small business owner & creative.
– Happier with Gretchen Rubin: I am fascinated by habits & the power of choice. I love Gretchen Rubin’s books so I knew I’d love her podcast. It does not disappoint! While her voice drives me a little crazy, there is a wealth of knowledge to be enjoyed with each episode.
– S-Town & Serial: Excellent podcasts with a storyline that captivate you, leading you to learn about everyday people living their complicated lives. If you’re interested in reading a book but don’t quite have the time, this is an excellent way to fuel that desire.
Honorable mention: Magic Lessons with Elizabeth Gilbert though she’s no longer recording
