just enjoying a bit of quiet this evening. i had a wonderful day making breakfast with a friend, finishing a very good book, & eating every bite of a delicious grilled cheese. now, its time to get comfortable under the wool blankets & enjoy a little {iron & wine} before turning off the lights & waking up to a new day.
love, natalie
ps. we made another entry over at {him + her}. do check it out, friends!
signs of winter are all around us. the crunch of the ice & frost beneath my feet, the gray, soft earmuffs keeping my ears warm, the handmade mittens knitted by another keeping my fingers cozy, & the snowflakes, each unique in design & make, swirling & floating all around me- all of this filled my heart with such joy this morning as i walked to class. i am so thankful for this time of year. among the many worries of gifts, holiday travel, & extended hours at work, i’ve found peace. friends, i hope you can find that inner joy, too. i am looking forward to tonight when we will spend an evening with good friends, enjoying curry split peas with basmati rice, cups of hot apple cider, & a bit of {sufjan}.
this is a photo from a cafe we visited while in north little rock during thanksgiving break. i feel like i am still living a bit in the past, lingering on the evenings spent with family during our stay. all of the delicious food prepared by others, the dirty dishes just magically disappearing & cleaned by hands not our own. but- i think i am finally getting used to being back in our tiny attic. i finally managed to tackle the piles of dishes left from monday, & i even made our bed! no more nose tissues & cough drops for me, i am back to healthy! now… i just need to get on all of the handmade gift ideas i have stored away in my mental toolbox. this christmas is already turning out to be my favorite. {this} has been a great reminder of what is important.
