2010 has greeted us with so much love, assurance, joy & good news! on new year’s eve, we spent the evening over at our favorite new {neighbors’} home. we enjoyed drinks & good conversation, talking about health care, sustainable living & food. i absolutely love the conversations had with friends. we left around 11 & brought in the new year tucked under blankets & in a deep sleep. i wouldn’t have asked for it any other way. on new year’s day, i cleaned & he cooked. it felt so good. he made black-eyed peas with cornbread & local bacon. i scrubbed the bathroom, reorganized the closet, boxed up the christmas decorations, & bagged up some things to take to our local thrift store. at the end of our day, we spent the evening setting up luke’s new record player & dancing to frank sinatra’s “tell her you love her.” now, i’m enjoying a quiet evening of baking zucchini bread & working on our meal plan.
as for good news, please visit {him + her} tomorrow afternoon for our new year’s resolutions & new beginnings!
can you believe it is new year’s eve? i still cannot! although i’ve been reviewing 2009 all week, i feel like i could review for a few more months… so much happened & it all flew by like a whirlwind! but oh- am i thankful! i am so thankful for all of these special moments…
photographing for {mustard seed} & their new website, celebrating grandad’s 90th birthday, spending hours in the kitchen with {kelsey} making delicious apple butter, meeting illegal chickens & truly falling in love, harvesting arugula from the garden next door, sharing conversation & food with one {amazing girl}, having too good of a time with luke on halloween, collecting a bounty of goodies from the farmer’s market, feeling so proud of a project that i completed, visiting my {best friend} & ending up at a cafe that was not a cafe at all, taking long walks to fight winter’s gloom, savoring every bite of uprise’s goodies, enjoying the time luke & i spent together putting up our christmas tree & decorating our home.
love & peace to you in the new year! i’ll see you in 2010 😉
i sometimes wonder what happened between may & august, but looking back at these photographs makes it much easier to remember the excitement, stress, new beginnings, & bittersweet moments of those months…
hiking in missouri & finding our first morel, eating one of the most delicious burritos at main squeeze, visiting a farm & eating fresh asparagus, floating with the bakery, baking the first of many delicious homemade pizzas from fresh in-season ingredients, GETTING MARRIED, visiting max patch (an oasis of sorts), traveling around asheville on our honeymoon, tasting the local flavors of every stop along the way of our roadtrip honeymoon, & coming back home to columbia & a place full of friends & love.
these months were beautiful. these months have changed my life. for the better.
