our weekend was a wonderful mix of lazy & productive & for the most part, spent at home. the best kind of weekend, i’m sure of that. i want to share little bits & pieces with you-
we spent our days slowly preparing breakfast, sipping on tea & coffee, ordering seeds for our spring & summer garden & making homemade pizza crust. i painted & experimented with my new watercolor set while he created a planting calendar for our growing season. i rested on sunday, knitting a few rows here & there, finishing up a couple of loads of laundry & basking in my i’m-reading-a-book! glory. it’s feels good to be a “book person.“

i haven’t talked much about our distance during the week on this space because honestly, life is such a mixed bag full of so much goodness along with struggle, too. but there is struggle & the weekends are really hard unless we are intentional about every moment of our day. spending four days apart during the week means catching up on household chores, garden work & our “us” time when luke is home. all of that leaves little time for much needed rest on the weekends from such a busy work week. so, weekends like this one are so rare that we must savor each moment of slowly preparing breakfast together & sharing our studio while doing little projects we both love. finding that balance is part of life & sharing it with another make it all so much richer.
i hope you, too, had a restful & rejuvenating weekend.
i am so excited for these goals! the wedding album is long overdue (almost four years, people!) & everyone could use a little more water. i really love reading, but i never allow myself time to finish a book. i like book people. i want to be one of those people.
luke & i have a tradition right before the new year of going to a quiet coffee shop & sharing our new year’s goals with one another. it’s such a special tradition for us because it brings us closer together as we embark on a fresh new year.
as luke & i shared our goals for the new year, i shared my idea of monthly goal setting – an idea created by elise to keep you motivated & on track throughout the year. i want to live an inspired & intentional life throughout 2013, and monthly goal setting will help me do just that. i will share my monthly goals in this space at the beginning of each month. my goals will be small & tangible, such as “print & frame photos.” i hope to achieve most of my goals each month, but i don’t plan to over-commit myself by doing so. this is a way to stay mindful & present instead of letting the year simply pass me by.
i love fresh starts & new beginnings. fresh starts help you forgive yourself & others. new beginnings help you say, “it’s ok,” & take that first step. i am hopeful for what this year holds & what i can create, make, say & do. i want to create more & share it with others. i hope to blog regularly as a way to slow down to reflect, and i want to learn to say “no” with grace in order to focus & do what i truly value.
my monthly goals will help me do just that. i will be back here on friday with my january goals!
happy 2013 to you! i would love to hear your goals for the new year! if you blog, share your link in the comment section. if not, just let me know what you’re thinking so i can read about where you’re headed!
