– complete our entryway redo with a budget of $50 or less
———
i planned on doing a february recap at the end of the month, but the end of last week left me emotionally & physically exhausted. my february goals were so great in keeping me on track, though. i finished my quilt just in time & i gave up coffee shop stops with great success. i learned a lot about my body & it’s cravings for sugar. i succeeded at abstaining with mediocre success.
this month is incredibly busy. my work responsibilities are piling up & every weekend looks pretty busy with a camping trip toward the end of the month. that’s why i am choosing to take care of me this month. i will go to the gym at least 3 times per week & carefully watch what i put into my body.
i am also looking forward to our spring garden. we are adding several garden beds to our backyard & ordering new chicks! more on that (along with the details of our coop) soon, i promise.
finally, i am itching to complete the remodel of our entryway. i am adding a few succulents, framing several photos, hanging a new mirror & painting just a bit for all under $50. even though this month is crazy, i can’t help but add a creative project to my mix of goals.
my grandpa, known as our papa, passed away on wednesday morning. my heart is heavy as i realize papa is no longer with us, but it brings me such comfort knowing he is no longer suffering.
papa, i miss you so much already. i miss your wood shop with you in it. i miss your garden & your old country music.
papa, i’ll treasure the little gifts you made me. i’ll smile when a cashier hands me a golden dollar, remembering you once gave us a whole pouch of them at christmas. papa, i’ll plant that homemade wooden planter you made for me last summer with bright flowers in remembrance of you.
papa, i’ll carry you around in my heart always. i love you.
in 2013, i am choosing to spend more time blogging. this was a big step for me because for some time, i wondered if i had anything to add to this blog community & if my time was best spent writing here.
i finally decided to take a chance, believe in my story & share it with you regularly. i am choosing to write to you every monday, wednesday, and friday. this little routine has inspired my creative life & opened many doors to deep friendships & new opportunities.
i am not sure where this little blog will take me, but i do know that the time i spend writing here is valuable. it allows me to record our lives in such precious detail. this space also reminds me to seek beauty in even the simplest of moments. it has also taught me to find joy & share it with you. this space, i hope, is a safe place for us to share our ideas & find comradery along our own life journeys.
a friend once told me that my blog wasn’t real life & seemed too perfect. that’s maybe true; i’m not quite sure. what i do know & can promise you, though, is that our house is dirty most of the time & i often rush around without taking a moment’s breath to notice the quiet around me. luke & i disagree, sometimes we spend money we don’t have & we struggle in too many ways than i care to count.
when i do allow myself a few minutes to sit down to share my story here, i remember the goodness in my one wild & crazy life. it might be just part of our story, but i believe it’s the most precious.
i blog because i want to find beauty in the everyday. thank you so, so much for following along.
