today i wanted to share with you our pretty beach vacation photos, but i could only muster up the energy for one edited photo.
because i’m not the girl who gets it all done.
projects lay unfinished in my studio & dirty dishes sit abandoned in my kitchen sink.
emails go unanswered & phone calls are never made.
day planner pages fill up too quickly & we go another night without a decent meal.
farm orders are finally finished in the wee hours of the morning & another good night of sleep is missed.
minutes turn into hours & hours turn into days & i’m left wondering where it all went.
although it sometimes may appear as though my life is perfectly organized with a crossed off, color-coded to-do list, i’m not the girl who gets it all done.
so right now, today, here in this space, i am telling you this just in case there’s even the slightest slice of hope or hint that i’m that girl.
because i’m not.
maybe we’re in the same boat or maybe we’re not (do tell me your secrets), but i’m tired.
so, i’m signing off until monday.
because i’m not the girl who gets it all done. i’m not even close.
i hope you’ll forgive me & come back on monday. those beach photos sure are pretty.
Forgive you? I think we should applaud you for admitting it!!! I'm just sorry I have no secrets to share. I too have dishes in the sink and piles of laundry to do and lists a mile long. But just keep schlepping through it and eventually you'll get to those gorgeous beach photos. 😀
The beach photos and the everything else…don't really matter compared to the brilliance and beauty of YOU. 🙂 So go easy on yourself..tired is normal and ok. Naps are my friend!
Amen sister! I'm right there in that boat with you. In fact, I was supposed to take today off to go to the lake but after a crazy weekend of going to the lake and the baseball game and the Color Run and an outdoor concert I'm tired and I'm taking the day off to stay home and rest. Enjoy your long weekend!
I don't think anyone is that kind of person. And anybody who says she is is just fooling herself. We just have to trust that the important things will get done, and everything else will work itself out.
You're the girl who's figuring out healthy boundaries. YAY!

Thanks for your post today! It's refreshing to hear. I always find myself comparing my life to others – the perfect pictures you see on blog posts and Instagram and Facebook. I have to remind myself all the time to stop because you know most of those pictures don't represent what's real. You gave us a real post today!
Thank you for your honesty, Natalie! Being exhausted is okay and simply a sign that you need a well deserved rest. Dishes and photos can wait! So will all your (already inspired) blog readers 🙂 Walk barefeet in the grass, read a book on the porch, or go to bed in broad daylight 😉 xo
I really needed to hear this today. We recently moved into a 100 year old house, and the task of making it "homey" seems insurmountable. I think I'll take the night off! 🙂

hi natalie, thanks for being honest and keeping it real – the blog world really needs that from time to time! don't beat yourself up about not getting everything done, nobody does! and it only makes things worse (speaking from experience). give yourself a break and enjoy it. love your blog, you are awesome 🙂
I love this. Just love it. Wishing you a happy, restful weekend.

Loved it. I seem to have the opposite problem, not enough to do.Now, that can be a blessing too, at least nothing bad lurking on my horizon, but I realized I needed some fun, so off I will go to buy fresh bread, I know just the bakery, and Seeing a friend at 3, sharing an old video and a meal, throw in a wee bit of meditation, it might actually turn out to be quite a Good day amar

I am neither – and I don't know who does…or if they do how they do it. some times life is relentless – with way too many things to do that I can barely remember to breathe….thanks for this! It is a breath of fresh air!

Totally agree there are a whole heap of us in the same boat!! And it's ok! This quote kept popping up to me this weekend in different places and it seems very fitting to share it with you: Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds you plant. (Robert Louis Stevenson) Happy Tuesday Natalie!

Great post Natalie. Something we need to all tell ourselves. So much so that I shared it on my Facebook page.

One photo is just right. If you had posted many, I'd be the girl who didn't get through all of them. . .
