i know some of you are still in the thick of winter weather, but it is officially spring in our neck of the woods! we are spending more hours outside than in, our floors are more often covered in mud than not & our hearts are full as we soak up these beautiful, sunny days.
we spent most of our saturday morning at the first farmers’ market of the spring season. we purchased a basket of lettuce & a bundle of tender swiss chard. it was such a treat to see our dear friends out & about around the market. one of my favorite weekend activities has begun!
we also finished a few backyard projects. with each new addition to our backyard, i fall more & more in love with our home. our projects are inexpensive (or free!), but add such a cozy feel to our home life.
i had been collecting cans for a few months with no real reason in mind. i spotted little tin can lanterns on pinterest a few weeks back & decided to give it a go.
it’s a very simple project! i dipped the cans in paint & luke drilled holes using a large drill bit. we strung the cans with garden twine & wrapped our tree in twinkle lights for a little happy touch.
we also carved out a little fire pit spot in our backyard just in time for sunday evening. luke & our neighbor spent sunday afternoon sawing several tree trunks into stools for sitting around the fire. we spent sunday evening cuddled around the fire, chatting & celebrating the end of a wonderful weekend.

I would love a post about your chickens! I'd love some pictures of your coop, and maybe some tips on keeping chickens. Also a post about tips on film photography would be great. Your pictures are beautiful.

I love the posts about what you do to make your home more cozy and inviting. And that fact that you do it frugally is so much more encouraging than other places on the internet where they're dropping $100 dollars every time. It's nice to see such a simple yet lovely take on keeping home. Thank you!
I'm a new reader and fan, but I would love to see more of the same. More pictures of the gorgeous, sunlit corners of your home. More ideas for frugal, thrifty, joyful living. 🙂
I'd love to see more of the bustling little town & the beautiful country in the area where you're so lucky to live!
Frugal projects making the most of what you have, exchanging recipes, raising chickens, & growing gardens are all parts of the very fabric of Southern heritage 🙂
Would love more chicken posts! 🙂 And tips on film photography would be excellent! xoxo

I like your posts on good food, frugal crafting and simply living. I would like more info on your photography and the type of camera, film, etc. you use.
Hi, Natalie! I was born in Fayetteville and spent my childhood in Columbia, so it's been so fun to see these places from a new perspective! I love your blog and would love to hear more about about your sustainable/simple approach to living, such as raising chickens and making your own household cleaning supplies, etc. Thanks for sharing! ~Carrie

happy birthday sweet lady! Check your front porch for me, will you? On the bench. 🙂 You have so many windows, I didn't want to ring the doorbell for fear of being caught! Also, I would LOVE some posts about your chickens. I would be extraordinarily interested in how you built your coop (what plans you used, how much it cost, etc.). Anything chicken related, really. Have a lovely day!

Hi there I just adore your blog. I think all your posts are perfect, I wouldn't change or add a thing. I love the way the cans turned out. We have so many raccoons here, I am wondering if they would destroy the lights and cans. I do want to give it a try though, it looks to happy and fun deezie
Natalie, I just discovered you instagram (and through that your blog) a few weeks ago. I love seeing what you're up to–celebrating, creating, noticing and being thankful–I feel like I am sitting with you at a coffee shop. I appreciate how open and expressive you are. And I always feel inspired by the ways you are simply, thoughtfully creating a lovely home. I am especially interested in what you are doing with the little ones at school and famers market. But just keep doing what you're doing and you will continue to bring lots of joy, to me and lots of others!

I'm going to be honest… We are stealing this fire pit and tree stump seating idea! We are in the middle of making some big changes in the back yard and we have a perfect spot for our fire pit where an old bench used to be. We have used a tree stump as a side table next to a chair in our bedroom, but I love the seating idea. It will look so natural and cozy!
